Cora x Edge Fall 2026

Additional Litter Information

Litter Goals:

Genetic diversity, field talent retention, athletic, intelligent, prey drive

Genetic Diversity:

Pedigree calculated COI and AVK 10 generations:

Coefficient Of Inbreeding (COI): 1.6%
Ancestor Loss Coefficient (AVK): 46.84%
(10 generations: 97.56% complete)

Kinship:

There are only 6 goldens contributing a calculated blood % of more than 5%. Starting at the 4th generation through the 10th generation. The highest being Wraith's Duncan @ 8.98%. I analyzed this pedigree back 22 generations to the 1940's. According to the Dog Aging Project,  Mixed breed dogs, on average, tend to have a coefficient of inbreeding around 5%.  The average COI for golden retrievers dogs is ~22%.    Lowering kinship in purebred dogs is a strategic breeding approach aimed at reducing the genetic similarity between parents, thereby lowering the risk of inherited diseases, inbreeding depression (reduced fertility/lifespan), and improving overall genetic  health.

Physical:

Predicted size: 55 -75 pounds

Coats: Flat

Head: Boxy with attractive muzzle, stop and length

Physical: Athletic, very muscular, expecting both shorter and longer coupled goldens.

I'm very excited about this pairing as it offers tremendous field traits IE, marking, prey drive and athleticism.  With fewer popular sires. Cora has a very rare haplotype.  Canine haplotypes are inherited sets of closely linked genes (often within the Dog Leukocyte Antigen/MHC region) that primarily function to regulate immune response, determine disease susceptibility, and maintain genetic diversity. They are critical for identifying immune-mediated diseases, assessing vaccine responses, and tracing evolutionary history.   Targeting a higher mean level of genetic diversity, haplotypes  and heterozygous are the primary goals of this litter. Both parents demonstrate the classic golden personality.

 Core Skills & Traits:

  • Retrieving: A primary goal is to excel at retrieving both on land and in water.
  • Hunting: Many WM Farms goldens are bred to be proficient hunters, possessing a strong prey drive and a natural instinct to mark, locate and retrieve game birds.
  • Stamina & Agility:  WM Farms goldens work daily on 800 acres of mixed topography including a river.  Bred for endurance and agility, allowing progeny to work tirelessly in diverse field conditions.
  • Trainability: Bred for intelligence and eagerness to please, progeny should be highly trainable, making them suitable for various working roles and canine sports.

Activities & Events:

  • Hunt Test Options: Yes, evaluate a dog's natural ability and training against a standard, focusing on obedience, marking, handling, retrieving and finding birds.
  • Hunting Options:  Yes, WM Farms field goldens are actively used in hunting, both upland and retrieving waterfowl.
  • Canine Sport Options:  Able to participate in various canine sports like agility, obedience, and tracking.
  • Search and Rescue Options: WM Farms have several active SAR companions. Including Ski, cadaver and natural disasters.  Their intelligence and trainability make them well-suited for search and rescue work.

Beyond Work:

  • Family Companions:   While bred for work, field goldens are also known for their friendly and loving temperament, making them excellent family dogs.
  • "Off Switch":  Our goal is to produce goldens that can be active and focused in the field but also relax and enjoy life as a companion at home.

This litter has over 30 significant field and working titles throughout the maternal and paternal lines. Including Master National and Field Trials.  While this pedigree is highly diverse, it also retains a high level of competitive achievements.  In addition, there are a number of hunting goldens and a variety of usages that contribute to key field traits. Suggesting  very biddable temperaments, well sized, muscular builds, attractive head/ear/eye set, speed and athleticism have been notably breed into both litter pedigrees.
